Human
creativity knows no bounds. And the daring adventures of mankind wouldn’t have
been possible without the inspiration that brave men have drawn from the simple
spark of creativity. So here we turn our eye on to Top 5 Desi songs on the
weirdest topics, or Top 5 most creative Desi songs, whichever floats your boat.
But, be informed that the following list has not been made with a flippant
objective, as Edwin Land once said, “An essential aspect of creativity is not
being afraid to fail.”
5. Ice Bucket Challenge Song by Venu Mallesh
The best catchy tune award goes to, 'It's an ice bucket challenge, it's a nice bucket challenge’. This 4 line song, which is a creative new trend being pushed rigorously into the social mainstream, thanks to YouTube, is not a one off thing by Vennu Mallesh. Judging from his other works, he has taken quite a liking to minimalism, competing with Bollywood at its own game. Enjoy his other song, '12 Angry Men', where he... well, I shouldn't ruin the surprise for you. Oh wait btw, Michael Jackson still lives on!

4. Fuddu by Shakti Rawal
Apart
from the video’s crassness which shows a lone woman surrounded by a loafer
and his clique; the song incredulously attempts emotionality with a random
alaap thrown in; because, yes, you should throw in a random alaap when you can’t
bring complexity to your songs. With every possible 'evil woman' stereotype
incorporated in the lyrics, the refrain narrates the hero's despair about
having been rejected by a girl who finds him, a 'fuddu' (nincompoop). That's confessional poetry at its best. Good that
Sylvia Plath left long ago or an oven
would seem too painless a way for her in these times.
3. Delhi Mei Metro Aayi Hai by Anonymous Uncle
Yes,
the ambitious urban transport project before its implementation was nothing less
than a fantasy, (though it is another thing that these days it is turning into
just another nightmare in an average Delhiite’s life). When it commenced
operations, the Delhi Metro transit system was a breather and it saved both
time and money for most commuters. For some, it must have saved quite a lot of
time and money, so much so that they could utilize the extra savings to pour out their uninhibited affection for what
seems like, ummm….a government project. Although, I can vouch for the fact that
many a commuters have expressed satisfaction and a similar sentiment that has
been expressed in the song’s lyrics. How’s that for the singer's genius at getting the mood of his audience?
2. Kundom Life by Akshat Raj
Yes,
with improving technology and falling attention levels, kids of the coming
generation will require more innovative ways to acquire new knowledge. Also, who
needs sex education in schools, when it will be taught in the most boring fashion
possible and probably without any kind of photographs too. If someone in the
government is reading this, then please use this song as the best educational
material available on the principle of safe sex and condom usage. This will be
the coolest way the Govt. of India can educate Indians about the population
control program. The song’s lyrics ask you to, 'uuuj karaho kundome bhaiya' and also advises you to always possess
a 'pyaar se pyaara kundome' whether
you are giving it to her in this world or outer space. ‘Band karo HIV door, always
rakho life me kundome'.
1. Tatti by Zameer
This
song is my favourite in the list, because it makes no bones about what it is
trying to be. And yes, I also like the
song because it generates awareness about how excessive and non-discriminate
consumption can lead to digestive malfunctions, as well enacted by Zameer who
faces the dilemma of pooping while eating more. Now how many songs there are,
which can be both conscious and funny at the same time? Not many, right?
