Facing Choices

09th July 2012

When you have everything figured out, you realize that its a matter left solely to your choice. But what, if you know, that you are bound to lose at the end of it all, then what should one choose from among the choices available? A better way to lose, perhaps? But can the adjective “better” survive or stay relevant, when its “losing” that one will inevitably face at the end of it all? Does the fact, that one will lose eventually remove any and all superlatives possible?

Each choice is laden with its own set of superficial advantages and shadow disadvantages. As it happens mostly in society and in the minds of its dwellers, the superficial advantages are always visible simply because of the fact that the advantages lie on the very apparent surface of events and their consequences. However, the shadow disadvantages reveal themselves only when the superficial advantages are weaned off, utilized, extracted, enjoyed by the beneficiaries of those advantages. That is when one gets saddled with the shadow disadvantages, forcing one to undergo changes to overcome or tolerate those disadvantages.

What if you are aware of the advantages and disadvantages of each choice from amongst the choices available? What if, the only consideration lying with you now is between picking that choice with the disadvantages that you think you can tolerate or is worth tolerating? The question is no longer between making the right or wrong choices here, and neither is it between failure or success. But society will judge your choices and it will get the right to do so when future becomes the present. Rightness or Wrongness and Success or Failure are fluid concepts. And the way the society’s thoughts and collective consciousness progresses, is something you will have no control over. So is the case when it comes to society’s notions of right or wrong or success or failure.

I am facing choices. I hope I have the endurance to fulfil my choice, if right and the strength to bear, if wrong.

  1. since life will not be life if u dint have to make choices. there's not just good or just bad in the world, its always a mix of both. accordingly, u'll always have more than one path to choose from. although u cannot change what you have to face, good or bad, no matter what choice you make. there was a time when i was so against the concept of destiny/fate, i would try everything possible to mend things my way, but i always failed. i made the choices according to what i had in mind for future but i failed so far. for the 1st time, ive accepted destiny. that watever has to come will come no matter what choices u make. u will automatically be directed towards whats supp to happen. so the best thing is to follow your heart/intuition. accept what it asks u to do at the present moment. pick that path and move forward. if its the wrong path, u'll be directed towards the right path when its the right time. agar problems aane hain life mein to kisi bhi raaste mein aaenge hi..u cant avoid those. follow your heart, do only good, dont hurt ppl on the way. u r good to go! trust me..u dont need nethin else to move forward.
and if u dont believe in destiny..just tell yourself. that no matter how u plan, it doesnt always serve u with that. u cant even speak with free will even if u wanted to. words from your own mouth come out in their own sweet time, not when u want them to.
