Know the Nature of Man to know the Nature of God

In science the Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle states that it is difficult to observe quantum systems without affecting the system, i.e., when the location of an electron is to be determined, then it becomes impossible to do because of the very nature of the experiment involved. Thus, if one attempts to know if an electron is exhibiting wave like characteristics or particle like characteristics then the location cant be determined. This uncertainty arises because of the method adopted in the process, whereby a beam of energy is sent to stimulate the electron, as a result of which the electron shifts. Thus, when the electron shifts, it is impossible to know the location of the electron. This uncertainty is inherent, not only, for sub-atomic particles, but is also equally applicable to every other thing in this universe. This uncertainty is an inherent nature of the system of existence. This uncertainty is present because of the observer effect, which states that uncertainty is brought into the system due to the methodology adopted. Thus it will, forever, be a futile exercise to know and understand things merely by observation. Similarly, God, cannot be observed, but can only be experienced.

The above-mentioned uncertainty, arises, due to the method adopted, as said earlier, thus attributing both cause and effect to the person who sends the energy beam across to locate the electron. The Observer here, adopts a behaviour, pursuant to a thought, i.e., to know the location of an electron. It is the thought of the observer, which compels the observer and which in turn creates uncertainty in the system when the energy beam is sent across. Hence, it is the thought prodded behaviour, of the observer-experimenter which causes uncertainty. But what is a person without thought and behaviour? He will be a dead-stone. A person in order to be alive, should therefore have thoughts constantly and indulge in action all the time. Human beings with their thoughts and concomitant action, over a period of time, accumulate a behavioural pattern that modulates their future behaviour. Thus, we can say that human beings are compounds of behavioural knowledge based on past experience. As stated earlier, a person, the observer-experimenter is both cause and effect at the same time, and since human beings are able to conduct/observe/experiment at the same time, human beings too  are both cause and effect at the same time.

Also, if we look at energy, we see that it is being used in the experiment to locate the certain position of the electron, but the very energy which is used to do so, causes the electron to shift. Thus, energy too is both cause and effect at the same time.

Does that mean both Man and Energy are the same? How did the whole experiment happen to take place? The experiment happened because of Man’s thought to conduct the experiment. Thought is what compels a man further propelling him into performing his duty. It is said that Energy is the sum total of the universe and is represented by the Equation E = mc2 .  God is also both cause and effect at the same time. God therefore is the sum total of this universe. Thus God is energy. Swami Vivekananda calls God as Cosmic Energy. Neitzsche had pronounced that God is dead, perhaps because he must have realized the absurdity inherent in the nature of thought and in the nature of Man, God, Universe and Energy taken together. But we are alive and this universe is alive, so it is not possible that God is dead. God is unknown, unheard and unseen. Can God be the famous anti-matter?, a subject which Stephen Hawking has so fanatically pursued.  But yet again, God acts like an isolated system with no interaction with the other system, viz., the Universe. In relation to God, the universe thus becomes an isolated system. But we know that Man, in relation to the Universe constantly exchanges energy with it. Therefore, we see that the Universe becomes a physical system as well as an isolated system, when using a relativistic yardstick. This is a paradox and the paradox is there because of the use of system of measurement which has been created by Man. Man cannot know God using systems created by men.

The nature of God is that God is cause and effect at the same time. Since Man (coupled with thought) and Energy is also cause and effect at the same time, it can be safely concluded that Man has been made in the mirror image of God. But if Men are made as a mirror image of God, does man have free-will?

Free will, as my dear friend Akarshan would like to say, does not exist and goes on to also add that everything has been determined already for everyone. In my opinion, free will, exists and works through the design of God, which is nothing but this universe and the concomitant illusion that comes with it. This Universe and the life therein is nothing but an illusion and in fact this illusion is part of the design that comes from God. God while designing everything on this earth placed a simple spot in the back of our head as a space-thought so that man is able to know and understand God because God in its attempt to create this world forgot to completely know the nature of man. Remember, the betrayal at the Garden of Eden by Adam? Hence, man’s duty is to know the nature of man and in that attempt he will automatically be in the know of the nature of God. Constant questioning by an individual will lead him to God. The ability to constantly question is what I understand as Free Will.

In the above, I stated that knowing the nature of man will lead one to know the nature of God. However, what is a man without thought and behaviour? Fundamental to knowing man’s nature is a “questioning quality” that forever eggs a man towards the chicken of creation. But what could be God’s purpose in creating? God perhaps wanted to know the nature of man. Nature of man is paradoxical. Thus the way to God means crossing the illusory paradoxes that define the life of humans on earth.

Paradoxes cannot be know-ed merely, but have to be understood. Thus, the way to God is not through knowledge alone, but understanding as well. As the energy in the electron experiment creates uncertainty, so does one’s thoughts (also a kind of energy) constituted of the above-mentioned questioning ability create uncertainty. This happens because God, while creating, Man, created him with the ability to understand paradoxes, because understanding God involves piercing through the illusory veil that covers a paradox. A paradox is an illusion, “Maya”. Only a true seeker, the one who has a thirst for both knowledge and understanding can utilize the same as weapons to shift apart the sea of doubt and confusion and thus grasp the ability to know and realize God.

However, even, more uncertainty is created at the dawn of realization that God exists and is functioning behind a curtain of Maya. But a student who is relentless in his search of truth and has the twin abilities of both knowing and understanding; and paradox perception, only, will be able to realize God.  If one seeks to know where God exists, uncertainty would be filled in because the desire to seek has been placed in by virtue of thought – which is a form of energy – which displaces the actual correct thought that would provide the answer. Thus the nature of man is to constantly question his own knowledge and understanding even after realizing God. Since man tends to think and because of his thinking, is propelled to action; the basic nature of man is to think.

So how does one uncover the curtain of doubt that shrouds the clouds beyond which exists the abode of God? Does it require a leap of faith? Or fanatic conviction? Or sheer devotion? Or unwavering determination? The answer is that the path requires all of that together with knowledge and understanding.

But most importantly what one requires is belief. Sheer, hard-headed, unpolluted, true, un-selfish belief in the One.

By knowing the nature of Man, one can know the nature of God. By knowing the nature of universe can one know the nature of Man. By knowing and understanding the nature of God, one can gain satisfaction and peace and achieve moksha. The Path is a very indirect one and is open to everyone. But, only a true student will be able to have the bravado, strength and a sense of sacrifice to be able to walk on the path of God fearlessly.
