Nature of Thought

Thought is a persecuter. Thoughts storm and cloud the human brain torrentially. When there is a downpour of a million Thoughts together a person breaks down either due to stress or due to an emotional outburst. Thoughts control humans, and they constantly run after you as if trying to remind you of something. Thoughts run around in a person’s mind like kids playing gully cricket in an alley.

Mind is a garden of thoughts. Many times there are multiple flowers of thoughts that bloom in the mind together at one go. But while the thoughts bloom in the mind, the mind also has the ability to build up a mechanism overtime, to understand and handle such thoughts.

Thoughts make the mind restless and thus edge a person away from knowing and understanding God. Why do thoughts constantly cause haywire in the mind of a person? Thoughts run after the human mind like a police man trying to entrap a sinner. Who is the sinner and who is police man here? Man is the sinner and God is the police cop. Thoughts run around and about inside the human mind trying to remind the human of his next course of action. Who lays this course of action? It is nothing but God and part of God’s design.
Why do thoughts make the mind of a person muddled?

The answer lies in the evolutionary theory of life on this earth. Swami Prabhupada, who founded ISKCON, was a fanatic believer in the idea that life comes from life and that it does not come from matter. I completely disagree with him in that he failed to develop appreciation for inanimate objects. Man and his thought are not affected by only what is life, but also what is non-life. Thus non-life affects man and his Thought. God is Cosmic Energy. Thus God includes both matter and Thoughts.

However, realization of God is not possible without understanding that matter also plays a part in the evolutionary progression of Man’s thought. It is God’s will that the path to God be revealed only to a true student, a sincere seeker so that God brings unto heaven only the very pure who knows and understands the Nature of God. Life on Earth is a form of test. Since God is present everywhere and God’s consciousness fills to the brim the entire cosmos, it seems very clear to me that God’s consciousness is present in matter as well. As matter changes and evolves, it creates cause and effect. Both are intricately linked.

But why would matter have consciousness. I would like to add that even Air for that matter is filled with consciousness. Man, likewise, is also filled with consciousness, but Man is not aware of it. This is God’s way of ensuring that Man who has strayed away from the path of God is able to enjoy nature and God’s creation. But Man, in his enjoyment of the garden of God’s creation, forgets that the path to God does not lay outside in the worldly, “Maya”. The path of God and clues to the same are present everywhere. But it takes one consciousness to be able to understand God’s intelligent design. The design, which by its very nature, is illusory.

It is this illusory nature of things that mocks man’s consciousness all the time. If Man becomes conscious of lets say one thing, or a person, or a thought, Man immediately forgets God since his concentration/thoughts have been hijacked by that object under Man’s observation. An enlightened soul is one who does not forget God every waking hour of his life, both through his Mind and through his concentrated action. When Man accepts that there is a God present throughout, only then can Man be peaceful, comfortable, endearing and calm. Only then will his thoughts finally come to rest. God has created Man like this, with an inbuilt system of constant questioning and a perennial thinking ability, so that Man is able to think for himself, first and then next, God, while dispensing man’s duties on this earth. The duties for which man has been created as an entity in this Universe
